Tara was declared a national park on July 13th,1981. It covers an area of about 19.200 hectares. Due to its favorable climate and remoteness, Tara is home to a rare relict and endemic tree species of the Balkan Peninsula, the Pancic Spruce, and many other natural monuments that can be called living fossils. The average height of Mount Tara is 1000-1200 meters above sea level. Its highest point is Kozji Rid (1591 m) and the lowest (291 m) is Lake Perucac.
The River Vrelo is the strongest karstic spring in the national park and it flows into the Drina River after flowing 365 meters. Tara has a mountain climate with cool summers and cold winters with a lot of snow. It often rains in May. July and August are the driest months, and autumn is sunny and warmer than spring….
Mokra Gora is a mountain Zlatibor dispersed village. Important road routes have passed through Mokra Gora since the old days. Today, it is a popular tourist destination famous for the Sargan Eight. Sargan Eight is the most attractive tourist and museum narrow gauge railway in Europe. Away from the bustle of modern life, enriched with natural beauty of the Mokra Gora region, it revives the nostalgic and romantic spirit of days past with each steam locomotive wistle….
On the right and partly on the left bank of the River Drina, from the both sides of the River Rzav that flows into the Drina, among conical wooded hills there is the town Visegrad. The greatest attraction of the town is the bridge over the Drina built by Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic in 1571.
Arrival at Belgrade Airport (recommendation : early morning flight of Turkish Airlines). Meeting and assistance at the airport. Panoramic sightseeing tour of Belgrade. Free time for lunch. Transfer to Bajina Basta, check in the hotel. Overnight.
Breakfat at the hotel. Visit to the Racha Monastery (the endowment of King Dragutin from the 13th century). After this visit, departure to Perucac, visit to the shortest river in Europe – the Vrelo River, only 365 meters long, and to its magnificent waterfalls over 30 meters high, where the Vrelo River flows into the Drina. Even though it is short, the Vrelo River is home to a large number of rainbow trout, grayling and huchen.
After this visit, continue to Tara National Park, visit the viewpoint Kozja Stena (Banjska Stena), hiking path Tepih-livada (Carpet medow) with the Nature Reserve Red Creek. Lunch at Mitrovac. Visit to lake Zaovine, the Lazici dam with a view of Spajici Lake and the area where Pancic Spruce was discovered in 1875. After these visits return to hotel, free time, overnight.
After breakfast at the appointed time departure to Jagostica via Perucac.
Trekking tour: Crossroad to Jagostica – Cheho’s house - Smiljevac - viewpoint Drlije - viewpoint Biljeska Stena - Crossroad to Jagostica (The tour can be subsumed under light to medium level tours. The total length of trek is 11km, with rise of 600m.
The first part of the tour leads trough forest road for Jagostica to Cheho’s house where climb to the top Smiljevac begins. After that it continues through beautiful forest to several small viewpoints and the beautiful viewpoint at Drlije overlooking the Drina Canyon. At the lookout there is a small hut as a base for capturing mountain goats. Nearby there are several tree of Pancic’s spruce.
From there trek goes back to the dirty road and after 2.5 km it reachs viewpoint Biljeska Stena. From there, the local road goes back to the starting point.
Lunch at Predov Krst. After lunch return to hotel, free time, overnight.
After breakfast departure to Mokra Gora. Visit to Drvengrad, ethno village of film director Emir Kusturica. The Cira drive at 10.30 (Sargan Eight – the most attractive tourist and museum narrow gauge railway in Europe built in 1925). After ride departure to Visegrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina visit to the old bridge and Kamengrad. Return back to Serbia. Free time, overnight.
After breakfast departure towards Topola via Zlakusa (visit to Zlakusa pottery village). Sightseeing of Topola and Oplenac, complex comprising of the St. George Church, the Karadjordjevic Dynasty Mausoleum and the house of the royal family Karadjordjevic, Dynasty Vinery.
Continue towards Belgrade Airport according to flight schedule (evening flight – Turkish Airlines). Departure. The end of the tour.
